Made this tray from waste cutoffs from the box I am making. Waiting on some special clamps I ordered to do the glue-up and the rest of the project. Right now box is dry fitted.

It looks like you've prefinished the parts, or is that just a trick of photography. Nice piece!

ebd, I've had a 1/2 x 8 x 48 piece of zebrawood in my wood pile for 20 years! Your picture might give me encouragement to pull it out and make something!! Same question as Ellis. Did you prefinish or is that just photography magic? Jim

No prefinish. I just glued it up and did a final sanding on the outside to make sure the joints were flush and then sprayed with MinWax fast drying poly - clear gloss. I tried it on a scrap piece along with oils, wax, and other sprays. To my eye it's every bit as good as soaking in tung or teak oil and endless wiping till all is dry and then repeat. It took a few coats but is way easier & quicker. Almost feels like cheating.
