Urns? I am covered up in small scraps of interesting wood. Been fabricating storage shelves and it dawned on me that it woudl be better to use them and turn them into cash. Saw a YouTube video on building Urns. I have built a few and like the people on YouTube was asked by friends to make them for their loved ones. Just wondering if there is a way to market them.
Or a better way to make use of those scraps.

Are the scraps big enough to use in pen blanks, or even segmented pieces for bowls, etc? P.

Barry, Make a few samples and show them to some local funeral directors.

Look for urns for sale on the Internet first, to see what the typical asking price is. Then as suggested find out what funeral parlors typically pay to purchase urns.

Big market, lots of suppliers. It’ll take great marketing. It used to be easier when the funeral home was the only supplier. Check Etsy, over 26,000 items listed under cremation urn. But a lot of those are jewelry to carry a small amount of ashes. I’d suggest you can start with making them for your family. When I turned my Moms, I turned 2 more for my wife and I.

I don't want to get involved with the bereaved and make custom boxes. I think I will talk to a few local funeral homes and see if they want a few. The Pet Idea may be a good one. I also don't want to turn this into and enterprise and add things like pictures and laser engraving.
I have made and given away lots of pen blanks.
I looked at Etsy. One of the urns there had the crew of the original Star Trek on it. I can't compete with that. There were some there selling for $13.69 with free shipping. I can't compete with that either.
The smart move might be to turn these SOB's into BTUs.
