What the heck is this?

A friend, thinking that I know everything, asked me what this was. I'm clueless.
It's wedge-shaped --- the "front" is about 3/4" high, and the back is 1". Overall it's about 6-1/2" long. Made of aluminum.
The two pieces are exquisitely machined, and when you fit them together you can barely see the seam between the two. The wording stamped into the "front" is "F 23 R&L."
Anybody have a guess?

It kinda looks like a bullet mold, but what do I know? I'm not a shooter, and I can't find any pictures on Google that match it or the maker's logo.

That's right. They're together in the first picture.

Kinda reminds me of an inline tubing clamp to keep lines separated.

I think you're on to something. Maybe a spark plug wire bracket?

Good idea, as it looks the part. However, there is no means of mounting this -- no screw holes, brackets, etc. (Unless the whole thing goes into a mount of some kind.)

Prototype for a brass knuckles design. It failed due to flawed ergonomics. T.

Did some google searching and found this about R&L. Not sure this narrows it down any more but it might help. Couldn't find anything related to F23.

I don't think it's for wires. Not only is the thing not really mountable, the two halves don't lock together in any way -- the one piece just sets atop the other -- as you would need for holding wires securely.
