Love it Bill - if only you could provide some detail on making and finishing this (haha!) .

I love seeing the final product completed, which can provide the motivation. I very much appreciate your detailing the process, which provides (some of) the knowledge and possibly the confidence to attempt such a piece.

I have plans to attempt my first case piece(s), inspired by your work and the ability to search through WC and see details of how you do things. I've done tables, beds, bookcases, but only a few drawers or doors, and no case piece.

And yes lighting physics can mess with projects - time to gift your daughter a few LED bulbs so the true colors come out. Or is this just photos and the 'liveview' inspection provides true color?

Looks great. Did you run into any problems with the weight of the glass in the doors? The one time I tried it I finally chickened out and went with something lighter.

glass and doors

Corner cupboards from an earlier time were larger, hence larger glass in doors, but with somewhat larger frames.

I saw no reason to be concerned with glass weight. The cabinet frame is a ridged structure and it will not move. The door is made with hand made deep mortise and tenon joinery. I can't see these joints failing from the glass weight. The doors have 3 tight fitting brass hinges, properly mortised into the framing. The hinge mortises are not going to allow the hinge to move for they support the weight, not the screws, which only hold the hinge in the mortise. The whole of it seems secure.

the green glass

The glass in fact has greens, browns, and reds. Artist at glass shop chose it. It looked good to my eye when held against the cherry in the glass shop. I defer to artists.

I have a friend who is an artist. Her hobby is designing Arts and Crafts furniture and glass stuff. When she saw the glass her comment was, "I would have never thought green for cherry, but it works". I would not have thought it either. In any case the glass was chosen for the wood, not the kitchen. In fact, the cherry looks out of place there.
