OT- Sticking Emergency Brake Cable

The above is on my 2011 F150. Often when I use it the light and sound stay on even after I release it. So I have to use my foot to pull up on the pedal a bit more.
Anyone have experience in lubricating these cables?

I have kept the emergency (parking ) brake lubricated on my 2010 Dodge Journey
with a combination of PB Blaster and FluidFilm.
First I spray the PB on any exposed wire followed up with FluidFilm, any pivots on rear calipers get the same treatment.
Check and lubricate your calipers as well.

Once you get it free use it periodicly. That will continually scrape some surface rust away and help prevent it from sticking.

This is excellent advice and is a common reason they start sticking.
Unfortunately, they can be difficult to free up and if it doesn't happen after a few tries you might just have to bite the bullet and replace it. I don't know the setup on your vehicle but often there is the enclosed cable from the cabin, then exposed cable, then short pieces of enclosed cable to the wheels. They all need to be free.

If you’re above the salt belt you’re familiar with its rust and corrosion. My Dad taught me that the emergency brake should be used all of the time or never. With automatics I never use them. With manuals...sometimes...sorry Dad 😉
When I buy a new vehicle I find a user group on FB or the web. There is an F150 group just as helpful as the folks here at woodcentral
If I found a sticking e brake cable I’d lube it first then go in and prefer a new one. There’s no convenient place to have a cable not release except in your driveway or the mechanics
