OT- Snowblower prep!

Here in NE Ohio we got about 12" of snow the other day. First day my unit was ok.Next day one of the belts,the auger one,started acting up. So I brought the snowblower into the shop and up it up and installed new drive and auger belts.
But was wondering if anyone replaced the spark plug every year?

I think so, but I had a 8 hp Toro for 18 years and didn’t change the plug ever, and it started on the first pull every time. Oil change at the end of each season.

I see no reason at all to replace the spark plug if the machine starts easily and runs well. I had trouble starting mine so I replaced the plug after at least 10-12 years but it wasn't the problem.
Changing oil at the end of season is a good idea.

I have a 1964 Jacobsen Chief 1000 with a 10HP Kohler engine and a 2 stage snow blower. I picked it up, used, about 50 years ago. It probably gets used a few hours, tops, a year. I have changed the oil and plug once.

Whether it's a lawnmower, snow thrower, blower, etc., I change out the spark plug and oil every year. Spark plugs and oil are both inexpensive so the cost is minimal for the peace of mind I get for doing that maintenance. I also don't like to be pulling maintenance on something when it's 10 degrees out and blowing wind with 6" of snow waiting for me.
