Need to make a cedar barrel. I want to cut 12 boards for the sides. What angle do I cut them? I will be using a table saw.

15 degrees. 360 divided by 12= 30 then half that since two pieces make up that angle

That is 15.00 degrees. Bear in mid that a tiny error replicated on each stave will result in a big error overall.

If you project is truly barrel shaped in that sides bow out and back in you have chosen a very challenging project. A bucket shape would be less complex.

Is the barrel going tp hold liquid?
If so you need to increase the angle by a degree or two so only the outer part of the staves touch and the barrel can swell shut

A very small error in angle will add up a lot with the number of cuts that you will make. To avoid problems when assembling, first assemble 2 half barrels. Then flatten the mating surfaces and put the 2 halves together.

Not sure but I think you can make a cradle to hold the curved staves horizontal and then rip them to width with the blade set at 15 degrees.

Lee Valley has bird's mouth joinery bits for cutting staves - choose size by number of sides. Route the edge, glue up and done. Item # 16J4056
