Simple enough to make using some wooden dowels, drafting vellum (or better yet Mylar if available), a roll of neutral photo backdrop paper. I made mine in an hour or two and used it for years before I moved and it went missing. In a pinch you could get along with just the background and a couple of large light sources such as diffused scoops or any source with a diffusing scrim. In a pinch I've even gotten by with window light and a reflector as the light sources.

I do have something called a "Merax One Shot Photo Studio" but find it a PITA to set up and use and too small for any object beyond the size of a 4-inch bowl. On top of that it is so shallow that trying to use a small aperture for decent depth of field the background comes out in focus, generally not what one wants.

That looks pretty much like my wood dowel one and using fittings like that should make it easier to build as it avoids drilling a lot of accurate holes.

John, if one had a source for those fiberglass "wands" that are used to erect modern-day pop-up tents, the light box could be even more portable. I guess one would need some sort of corner connector to make the "box". Would be a fun project. Jim

Using PVC and fittings, building the frame was a snap. Found photo diffusing fabric at a mail order photo business, or I was told parachute fabric also works. The issue was lighting - even stronger LED lights in clamp lights don't put a lot of light through the diffusion fabric, and without the fabric lots of reflected glare.

Fiberglass arrow blanks would work great but, as you wrote, the connectors would be the stumbling point. Of course if one owned a 3-D printer...
