Crown installation went ok. Miters are always stressful for me.
As it stands the shellac wash coat has been applied. Remaining- Sand, stain, first varnish coat, sand, second varnish coat, sand, top coat.
Then add the back, screw on the doors and mate it to the bottom

I need to do a crown just like that. Did you do a write up on how you made that molding?
Maybe you did.
Kinda remembering you posting about making crown molding on the table saw. Maybe?
I'll do some Googling on WC ...

I do spend the time to make good miters. The result is just a matter of sneaking up on perfection in cautious increments.
I got a misting of stain on today, just to darken and uniform the color a bit. And the first sealer coat of varnish is on and curing.

The wood was wash coated with about a 5% solids shellac then sanded with 220 paper. Stained with Tanstint dissolved in isopropyl alcohol, 1 part medium brown and 2 parts reddish brown, diluted 3 parts stain to 47 parts alcohol. Just a small amount of color applied to wood by spray at 20 psi and a very low feed. Finally, sealed with Waterlox gloss diluted 3 parts varnish to one naptha. When this coat cures I will sand it again and recoat.
If the surface looks uniform after the second coat of gloss I will overcoat with satin, and done. Otherwise I will sand yet again.
