I have spared no effort in making the corner cupboard as complicated as possible so why rely on off the shelf hardware?

I think Krenov's engineering is underappreciated. While visiting the school I was shown the rub catch he used on doors to hold them closed. It took a few practice runs to recall how to build and install them. They go on the top of the door and a pin supports the closed door at the bottom. I think the pictures are self explanatory. They are rough "carved" with a band saw and refined with file. When done right they provide a smooth unobtrusive closure.

(the large brad point hole is not part of the catch function. Ignore it)

It may not be obvious but the screw needs to be loose so the catch can pivot on the screw shaft. The mortise needs to be deep enough to sink the height of the insert. The spring hole depth needs to be deep enough to accept the whole of the compressed spring. Suggest some practice attempts.

They do make a delightful closure. Smooth closing and opening, yet they keep a door fixed.

Thanks Bill for your hints on this specifically.

Your long time record here on WC of detailed posts with great explanations of your casework projects have given me lots of ideas and inspiration on how to proceed. Now I need to narrow down all these possibilities into a real plan.

First off is 'TV stand' with a bit of shelf space / room for DVD player (do we really need that still?) and the sound bar, then some other storage for the board games we use the most. I was considering inset doors and drawers, neither of which I have tried before. Will kinda be like a dining room buffet size/style, but made for electronics.
