Friend just call and asked "what's yew wood good for." Apparently he's got 4-5 logs that are too big for his chipper (he's an arborist). Told him I'd ask here and let him know.

yew has a lovely deep tan color - and sometimes when you open it there's some purple hues in there. native americans used it for bows.

Have him Youtube making bows out of it and find out if his pieces are long enough and how to orient the grain when they are sawed. I have some Osage Orange that would be excellent for bows and very valuable for that purpose, but it was cut to short and now its really nice but about 20% as valuable.
