Kinda fascinated with this Yeti Tool Smart Bench. Small router for the spindle and other features like the stepper motors seem on the small size compared to the price of $5,000. But with the feature of assembly in 3 minutes, and able to machine 4x8 plywood, seems like a pretty nice hobby shop machine. Also easy to transport and set up on a job site! Innovative way to support the plywood, with ball bearings below and above the sheet to hold it in relation to the spindle. Kinda fun!

Out of my price range but I'd not be too worried about the motor size. Large motors, whether stepper or feedback-controlled, really only need to be huge when slew rates are extreme. All of the, admittedly limited, cutting I saw in the video was pretty slow. And, given that the power to the spindle (a router?) would mean that super-fast cuts are out of the question. I'd be more concerned about the overall precision and repeatability.

I continued to watch videos and read the blog. They showed a picture of an early generation that used belts instead of rack gears. The cut edge was horrendously poor. They are using what looks like a European die grinder for the spindle. I love the inventiveness, but a long way to go in design.
