First I installed a post on the DeWalt. The post provided my thumb a place to engage and led to greater control and a barrier between thumb and bit. However the depth adjustment is crude for this precise job and the machine is top heavy for this work.





While touring Lowes I spied the "Colt". Gave it a simulated test drive and was sold. Low center of gravity. Good depth adjustment. Took little time to reproduce exact depth needed for hinge I am using. Good visibility. Collet is sticky. May improve with use. Miles of power cord. Plenty of power for a 1/4" bit. Adequate grip but I will install a post on this one too. $89.

Plenty of power for a 1/4" bit.

I agree. I have two of these, more or less permanently assigned to dovetails on a Keller jig. I've made quite a few in 3/4" white oak, and while a bigger router might make them faster, I like the control I get wrapping both hands around the motor.

How long the bearings will last doing this, I don't know.

$20 and free shipping. Cheap as I am I was not going to make one when I could buy for this price......never heard of this company before

But for routing hinge mortise on the assembled cabinet stile this base will be in the way. I will still mount some posts on the base to provide thumb holds for better guidance.

Looks like a nice machine. I like the look of the depth adjustment, they have my old PC machine beat.
