Many years ago my wife and I were sitting at the table, relaxing with a cup of hot tea. For some reason all the boys were gone that morning.

I said, "This is what it will be like when we get old... except we won't have any money and everything will hurt!"

Wife goes in July 2 for a complete knee replacement.

I have had a chronic IUD infection for some time, was in the hospital for 3 days getting intravenous antibiotics about 3 weeks ago. Urinary specialist decided to do a CT scan to get to the root cause.

Did that a couple weeks ago. My GP called and said the CT scan of my kidneys looked good But the CT scan showed an embolism of my Aorta. Going to a Vascular Surgeon this afternoon.

OH and the Ice maker on my Refrigerator quit last week, and my son looked at my 3-4 foot dia maple tree in my front yard and said it has a major issue and should be removed. I have an Arborist coming in about a week to look at it!

Caution: This thread has the potential to rivial some of the threads on steel and sharpening....

I just had a steroid injection in an arthritic knee that had flared up to be quite painful. My wife had catarac surgery and I had to hobble along to take her to and from her appointment.

Picked up a nail in a tire....pumped up tire with hand pump to get to the tire shop.....kitchen drain clogged up on an inconvient day.

However, I plan on enjoying my 83'd birthday tomorrow.

My elderly cousin's funeral

Attended my elderly cousin's funeral yesterday, 95 years old. A hard working guy who retired at the age of 83, and still had a 12 year retirement. He really didn't complain much until he was in his early 90s. He was still driving to the post office, and mowing his yard on a John Deere tractor. But at 95 he was really all done. I really think he didn't want to go on, he always spoke of being tired, so I think he just decided to go. The two of us together at the 2017 reunion. He had bone cancer from a wad of chew sitting on the right jaw for 30 years. Tough old bird, RIP Bud.

I hear ya. Somehow the appliances and computers sense when we are under the weather. Having some sciatica trouble this week and irrigation system, one of the cars, and window slider are acting up.

To do list just gets longer and longer.

I celebrated my 83rd birthday last month. 61st anniversary tomorrow!

I still have most of my teeth, original equipment knees and hips, and can see fairly well although my optometrist says I will need cataract surgery some time (not yet though). I even have enough hair to comb! Ears don't work worth a darn though.

I think my wife has just about everyone beat on the replacement parts

2008 left hip

2011 left shoulder

2016 two 12" rods in the back

2018 left knee replacement

3 weeks ago - plate on left arm radius bone near the elbow,

this was to repair a partial fracture from a fall

She turns 59 this November

The one with the white beard! LOL

If she keeps up with replacement parts

All the aforementioned maladies have no comparison to the alternative we all face. That said, my story is removal of the doughnut shaped gland "down there" with its self-contained "bad" cells, good pathologist's report of surgeon got it all, and my lady love's vision deteriorating from RP disease. We sit together with the Twins playing [White Sox tonight], her reading as much as she can while still possible and me thanking the deity for 47 years of life with this person who allows me my woodworking passion.

All in all, ain't life grand?

Let me tell you. I don't know your age but I turned 80 last March and have been going downhill ever since. Second was eyes then having knees replaced, now heart trouble. Whats next?
