OT - student fridge

Hi all,
The fridge I originally bought our son for his dorm room that I've been using as a downstairs beer fridge the past two years died.
It was working one day, and then the next, the freezer melted and hasn't worked since. It hadn't been moved or anything. And the receptacle it was plugged into is fine.
Any ideas where to start diagnosing the problem for the repair?

You forgot to provide even the most basic info - does the compressor run and if not, does the electrical power make it to where it needs to go? Could also be the compressor failed, freon leaked, simple bad internal electrical connection.
When buying a new one (yes, I'd toss it an old non-functioning one in a heartbeat), I did some research. I needed a "dorm" fridge to store fertilized eggs while accumulating them for incubating. (An external temperature controller and a monitoring probe keeps the temperature where needed.)
There are many to choose from. I decided to buy this one, a Black and Decker: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DZQI6YW
But for a more useful fridge, I'd get a larger one - the same footprint but a little taller. I have one in my shop like that for water bottles, animal meds, CA glue, etc.
