I use Lexol. Not sure this counts toward what you are looking for as the furniture I use it on has been getting wiped down at least twice a year for 18 years. Four pieces and they still look new. The truck I had for 14 years had leather seats and they got treated a little more often, maybe 4 times a year or more. So, I'm not really restoring or refinishing but maybe just conditioning...

Plus, they do make a leather cleaner

When I rode a lot, I always used Lexol cleaner and Lexol conditioner on the saddles and leather gear.

When I used to do leather work, holsters belts etc. I used the Tandy Leather products. If I am understanding you correct the finish has worn off. If so you can sand the leather with a high grit paper to smooth it. The restain it with the Tandy leather dye finish. You will have to figure out the color just like on a wood product.
