Glad to get this piece out of the shop. It took up a lot of acreage.
Built like a table- sides M&T into the corner posts. One 1 x 4 oak "beam" dovetailed into sides below deck where a chair is anticipated to set.
Deck is hardwood core "Europly" 3/4" plywood from Columbia Forest Products. Yes, it is heavy. There are cut-out hand holds on the sides.

Arrived at Symphony office to find it located up a flight of stairs from parking lot. However, a sidewalk from a side road went uphill to the front door. I backed up to the sidewalk, blocking a road that didn't look heavily traveled. As the two women pulled the podium from the back of the truck I pushed from inside. It never fails, a truck came up the road. Seeing the struggling women, the driver, a stout looking man, asked, "do you need help". "Yes", was the enthusiastic reply from the women. The driver helped me get it off the truck and carried up the sidewalk and ultimately positioned in a temporary storage area.
I can imagine other places where the impatient truck driver would have just blasted his horn hoping to blow me out of his way.
That good deed completed I am back on the corner cupboard making crown molding for the first time.

One of the joys of living in a place where folks have some manners is sometimes you get to pay it forward. I have had complete strangers help me load things at Lowe's and open doors for me when my arms were full and help unload things. OTOH, I get to pay it back. I have bought many tanks of gas for service people, I paid for somebody's groceries in Kroger (I figured they weren't buying Ramen noodles because they liked them, sent her back into the store to get something nice for herself, and carried it to her car.) And I have helped others load and unload stuff, sometimes overdoing it. Add Virgina to your list.
By the Way, nice job on the podium.
