Dewalt planer, Brushes?

My Dewalt planer that must be 15+ years old sparked today when I started it. I saw the sparks for a second or less through the vent slots on one end of the motor. The slots were full of sparks briefly.
Time to replace the brushes?
This the 733 model with two blades I can sharpen myself.
