wet/dry vac

My ridged 18 gal wet/dry vac was used to vac up a small ~1 gal water a few days ago, with filter removed. I put a fairly clean filter in today & the amount of suck power is down. So I went & bought a new basic type filter & it doesn't make any difference. Is there anything else I can check?

Make sure the float just inside the filter cage isn’t stuck up high.
Otherwise, without a filter, any debris that might have been left in the canister might have gotten up in the fan clogging it up.
Some have a drain plug, but for only one gallon you probably didn’t leave that out. And lastly I have heard uh, there have been some folks that hooked the hose up to the blow side, but I won’t reveal any identity.

Maybe something got into the hose and is partially clogging it. Turn the vac on and put your hand over the end of the hose. Then remove the hose from the vac and put your hand over the hose insert area. Feel any difference?

The drain plug had been removed & now it's fine thanks all
