I've attended the NWA Expo probably 15 times or more and judged the craftsmanship competition six times, and it was always a three+ hour drive for me. It is probably the second or third biggest local woodworking show in the country, with some very competent craftsmen. Being at the gateway to the Adirondacks, the Saratoga show is a good place to see the latest tours de force in Adirondack-style furniture, a medium that can be quite sophisticated as well as rustic and very creative. You'll also see a lot of musical instruments, incredible kayaks and guide boats, and literally hundreds of objects in every woodworking category. I'm not sure who will be lecturing and/or demonstrating this year, but they always have a lot of high-profile presenters.

If you're into turning, the Totally Turning show runs simultaneously in the same city center, and is one of the major national turning events.

If you want to save some money on lodging, there are several lower-rent hotels in town only a few minutes away from the city center.

The dining options are unbelievable, as Saratoga is quite a high-class tourist town, still well-known for its horse-racing events and mineral springs spas.

So, as shows go, this one is worth a visit. IMHO
