Milwaukee and Dewalt both make some nice cases but they're filled. I don't really need another set of bits just to get the case

I use a larger sized pill bottle that prescripions come it. Keeps the smaller bits all in one place.

I keep several empty prescription bottles handy for bits and small hardware when going out of my shop. Found that a smallish [4" x 6"] zippered canvas bag is ideal to keep all the individual small items together in my tool box. Bag contents include self-centering bits, longer length screwdriver bits, that always lost arbor nut wrench for the circular saw, center punch, several nail sets, tiny pencil sharpener, etc.

1. Take a block of wood (any size you like).

2. Drill holes to size and depth.

3. Optional extra - add a rare earth magnet to attach the hex bit (or other) holder in a handy place.

Thanks..lots of good suggestions. Many I'd already thought of but didn't fit my needs. I've been using a 'egg crate' divided drawer for a while.

After working in the cold shop for the past few days I got tired of fishing for bits. My fingers get cold and this is just another frustration.

I bought this case with three extra racks.

I buy mine in the fishing tackle department at the local Cabela's. Translucent plastic boxes in all different sizes.

I bought that case, but mine was full.

That case is the best one I have (including DeWalt, Ryobi, and others). I like the closure mechanism - simple but secure and easy to use. The only 'complaint' I have is that I find the smallest bits difficult to extract from their spot b/c there's not much to grip.

I did what Derek did, except used foam and drilled the holes slightly undersized so that the fit is nice and tight.

You can cut the foam to fit a shoebox or whatevers on hand and stack a few layers in the box.

Also took a similar approach to mobile storage for router bits.

That's how my spade bits are stored

I cut down a plastic welding rod container. The I cut a chunk of ethafoam left over from a kayak bulkhead to fit in the bottom. The bits are stuck in the foam in sequence. The bottom of the welding rod container was glued back on.

I thought of doing the same in a different configuration but I've got other projects to build so I bought
