Kitchen Cabinets

Bobfromak

I was wondering if anyone has any experience building kitchen cabinets using pre made doors and drawer fronts. My sister in law wants painted flat panel doors. I've built a few kitchens but always with frame and panel doors, and I stink at painted finishes. If anyone knows a good reliable supplier, I'd highly appreciate recommendations. There's so darn much on the internet that I don't know who to trust. Also, I'm looking for a good hardware supplier for slides and European hinges. Thanks in advance.

paint

Bill Tindall, E.Tn.

Seal with oil Kilz, then spray them with oil paint, thinned a bit. Result will be glass smooth.

Order them prefinished

Most companies will even do a custom color if you send them a paint code.

The other option to paint is pigmented conversion varnish. White is easy to find and you can also find other colors available. It meets all of the KMA (Kitchen Manufactures Association) specs for kitchen cabinets, and makes a very smooth finish.

About 20 years ago I built the wife a large pantry and finished with white pigmented conversion varnish. She loves it for its easy maintenance.

Thank you for the advice, pretty sure we are going with pre finished doors and such. I have looked at the hardware company mentioned and they do have everything we need and I will use them for this project.

Thanks again.
