I don't know how Outlook works but it sounds like you have your server set to retain emails and some change caused the server to dump them back to you.

I haven't used Outlook Express since Windows XP. Can't use it in Win7, although the more powerful Outlook can.

My suggestion would be to look at the options or Properties under email in OE and see if there's a setting to delete messages from the server in "x" number of days or something like that. Windows Live Mail, which I now use in Win7, isn't that far off of the old OE settings and it has one for deleting read messages from the server. Otherwise I'm stumped. It's strange your ISP keeps old messages that long. Normally they dump them after a period.

You could try logging onto your email account on your provider's server via your browser (often called webmail) and delete the "deleted" messages there so there is nothing to send back to your OE client.

A better approach might be to contact your provider's support number and tell them what is happening; they may be well aware of the issue and know what to do about it.

yes one answer to your problem is to switch to Thunderbird email client. It can more than 1 email address at a time. And its not microsoft.
