I have both cherry and walnut furniture in my house that I built as much as 30+ years ago. Finished BLO+ varnish. No signs of blackening or discoloration.

The first real piece of furniture I made is a table with a macassar ebony top. I used BLO on it, 6-7 years later it was already so dark you could barely see the difference between the streaks. I refinished it at that point in Waterlox, looks fine now.

Wenge is another wood that is naturally very dark that turns black with BLO.

A nice accent wood.
