Anyone made a Tambour?

I have nearly finished building my Son and DIL's table. Now I have to apply the finish, but the end is in site.
I am considering making a sideboard to go with it. A long thin oval with tambour doors at the ends. Anyone made a tambour and how did you do it and how did it work out.

I did a walnut sound control enclosure made like a roll top desk for a church. Made a fixture to keep all the slats square, went to a tent and awning manufacturer and bought the canvas, glued it with Original Titebond. Worked great.

I made a few long time ago; Drilled and strung, no canvas. worked fine.

Hi Barry, I hope you can take some pointers from that description to help with your plans. Over the years I've made a few tambours, some running vertically and some horizontally like that one. But of all the ones I've made, that was the only one that I'd recorded or documented reasonably well.
I think probably the most significant tip I can provide is that the squareness of the cabinet, therefore the opening where the tambour runs, is critical. Whilst it's true that lots of other things might go wrong (if you're not careful) in the making of the tambour itself, all fixable or re-doable at worst, if the opening is out of whack by much you'll just never get a tambour to run sweetly, or might not even run at all.
