It's the only forum I've ever been a part of (other than a FB Group which is no where near as good as WC).

Memory is not what it used to be....but, I recall visiting some woodworking related web site (maybe a Jeff Jewitt finishing site) and you would occassionally drop in. Wow, a famous editor just dropping in to share his knowledge. Then you started Wood Central. I'm proud to say I've been here all that time. Time flies when you're having fun. May the good ride continue for years to come.

Congratulations Ellis. 20 years of WoodCentral!!! Time for recollection. I'll never forget how you judged my puzzle for a first prize at Northeast Woodworkers Show in Saratoga Springs, then you connected me with Dave Freedman to write an article for AW, which led to my writing my book on wooden puzzles (and I still get royalties after almost twenty years!) You have been an inspiration to so many and most certainly thanks to your hard work and dedication WC is the best wood site on the web. You have alot to be proud of!

I think I joined shortly after Jim died. I have certainly learned a lot here, met (online) some great people and aged quite a bit! Thanks for maintaining the site and monitoring with you great skill. I visited probably 99% of all days since I joined!

Hey, I have that book, New Puzzles ... by James W. Follette. I bought it in January of 2008; I hope it helped your retirement. (Ha!)

I want to build the pentomino game and the cube ball maze. My grandson made a similar maze from Legos when he was 5 so I think it would be a good project for us to work on together.

I plan to embed stainless or brass rods to block the open holes so the ball bearing will be captive and won't get lost, but still make a satisfying "clink" when successful. I'm also wondering if just one or two layers would be sufficiently challenging. The Lego maze was one layer with some dead ends and it still wasn't easy!

It's been a good ride so far. I remember participating in a group of women woodworkers on AOL and Jim telling us that you were starting this site. I moved over first day and been here since. I'm not as active as I was since retirement but do check in most days.

My workshop isn't nearly as busy as it once was because I've found myself busy with so many other things. I recently made a new window sill and beaded molding to trim the new window trim for our small bathroom at our river house. I finally completed the renovation a week ago.

Although I don't post as much I still read and learn here. Congrats on twenty years. Yes, it's been a good ride!

Thanks Ellis and everyone here who continue to make WoodCentral a great site. I haven't been very active the last 10 years with a crazy work schedule, retiring, moving from Northern VA to Marysville, MI (my wife's hometown), lifestyle changes of both of our parents, building a new house, planning the future workshop, etc..., but still read posts almost every day. I have wonderful memories of all the people I've met online and in-person at gatherings the first ten years. It's nice to see so many of the people I met at the gathering at Virgil Johnson's are active here. Memories of a bunch of us bringing our guitars to some of the early gathers and we sat around playing and singing almost anything people suggested. A real gem for me is looking back at the "Mug Shots" and remembering those who were so important in helping build WoodCentral.
