Starting work on another Music Stand Design

I am begining a new Music Stand project. This new stand will be a combination of two previous designs. The Desk will feature the new mechnism designed by my Dad last year.
The base will be a repordiction of the stands I made in 2014
The design for these stands were complicated but turned out looking just the way I wanted
here is the basic fabrication layout
To make sure the solid wood design was structurally sound I inserted plywood gussetttes throught the feet and the underside of each leag.
As I approch this next iteration I am contemplating the best way to make this leg again-
here are the three methods I have in mind -The oringinal stands were made using the first technique in the drawing "Solid Lumber along the Grain"
I don't think the solid lumber stacked method-(second idea in the drawing) is an improvement but I think the third idea -stacked Balitc Birch plywood might be a better concept. What ever method I use the final result will have all glue lines filled and toned black so the glue will not show. I plan on using the same gussette technicque in the toes and the underside to strengthen the overall design....any other thoughts on my plans?
