Somewhat OT - Bluetooth speaker(s)

Somewhat OT - Bluetooth speaker(s)

We have an Ipod (as well as some Ipads). Nice for listening to either podcasts or music. When we are in the car, we use it with our bluetooth system and that works quite well. You can put it on shuffle and not bother to touch the Ipod for the rest of the trip - or you can play podcasts in sequence.

I was wondering what anyone would recommend for a portable shop speaker.

JBL (and others) have nice relatively waterproof units which would probably be quite dust proof also.

Recommendations?

I would hesitate to use a "good" speaker in the shop no matter what the claims of the manufacturer are. I use a super-cheap odd looking blue orb speaker that I got on sale for < $10 some years ago. It works well enough and if something nasty should happen to it I wouldn't be too concerned.

I have a little JBL I use all the time for work. I am in hotel meeting rooms pretty much every week. It does not take much volume to fill the room. I would not hesitate to use it in the shop when needed. I bought it with a carry case so I can toss it in my backpack.

I use a Bose Bluetooth speaker that -- as I recall -- I got free as part of a deal Apple was doing with MacBooks a few years back. Linked to my phone, it's fantastic for listening to podcasts or online radio in the shop. The Bose has a nice sound and build quality to it, but I'd presume any Bluetooth speaker should serve just fine. (And I don't see reason to worry too much about general shop dust, btw, unless the thing is getting blasted by it.)
