I don't know for sure but I had a flat screen that got a permanent shadow like that. From what I was told this can't be corrected.

On CRT's, the screen was scanned with a magnetically deflected electron beam. Stray magnetic fields could screw up the scan so a degausser was used to demagnetize metal that was in or near the CRT. Flat panels have no scanning beam and use over 6 million (1080 by 1920 picture elements) solid state "light valves". This is probably over 24 million for the "4K" screens. So a degausser won't help.

Back in the days of CRT's, I had a degausser that I built myself. It worked fine, I probably scrapped it or rendered it for the wire several years ago.

Pretty much what I thought. I'm stuck with it. It's not bad, and only noticeable with the screen is black or very dark. The TV turns on to a black screen with the words "Smart TV" in the middle and this blue cloud above. At first I thought it was supposed to be there until I realized it was showing up in the picture sometimes. I will put it on ignore.

I am not surprised or upset. I got the TV at a freight auction. My friend always says, "It's there for a reason." I say "It's what fell off the truck this week." They had the TV hooked up and playing, so I knew it worked, I just did not watch long enough to see a dark scene and realize there was a blue cloud in it. It's a 50" Samsung TV and I paid about $250 for it. Well less than half of what it retails for.

You might try fiddling with the menu for color, brightness, contrast, etc. You might be able to get rid of it (or nearly so) that way.

I mentioned above that I bought it at a freight auction. Not sure where I would take it for service. I might call Samsung, but last time I called them I concluded I may have been too old when I called and was not going to live long enough to get any answer.

Sorry don't know what a freight auction is. I thought the manufacturer would cover warranty. Usually that's from date of purchase.

I'd still try fiddling with the menu selections. One other thing to try. Unplug it for a minute. Press the power button and hold it for five seconds. Then plug it back in. On my flatscreen that is a purge and reset.
