Drawing Table Vinyl Cover

Making a tilting drawing table using a Mutoh mechanism a friend gave me. The Vico vinyl board cover is white on one side and light gray on the other. Anyone have experience and can suggest white or gray?

That brings me back to the start of my career at Caterpillar in 1972. I didn't like white covers, shows any lead smears too quickly. Back then we used pounce bags to limit the smears. Also made for fun days when you could catch someone in the back of the head with the bag. Of course you used someone else's bag since you never got it back.
