Mr. Nall did, however, appear to have an ongoing project that, unfortunately, he was unable to set aside when joining our Merry Band. He was more interested in promoting writing in his home dialect than in learning about woodworking. He was in so much of a hurry to write something that he repeatedly misread the message(s) he was responding to or posed questions in unclear, if not cluttered or cumbersome text, that may have been attempts at humor that fell flat with WC readers. When what his previous correspondents viewed as charming didn't have the intended effect here, he got pissed off. With his repeated failures at communication coupled with his refusal to modify the behavior that was apparently so vital to him, he left himself little choice but to seek other outlets for his project.
His self-imposed exile does not, therefore, fit the profile of a troll. If he were a troll, primarily seeking to disrupt, he'd have doubled down on everything until Bill or Ellis simply banned and blocked him from the website.
Don't know if he had anything to actually contribute, with either knowledge or well thought-out clear questions, but now we won't know.
Have you seen

. . . his post of 08 September over on the Trivia board?
Looked

He seems insensitive to the all-caps thing which seems to portray frustration as anger where there may be none. OTOH, many people who are presented with a problem they neither can nor need to solve will respond that way. Tantamount to a "You game's stupid, I won't waste me time playing it." Alex, with his "lol" response didn't seem to take Nall's reply as insulting or an attack.
I suspect Mr. Nall is a bit more sophisticated that he'd like to let on, but may be a bit defensive about his lack of wood knowledge and was using bombast and the backwoods schtick as an excuse. Of course, I could be wrong.
In any event, he's departed our happy home.

His post of 08 September was blatantly political, which anyone should know is a no-no on a forum like this, and unrelated to the thread, which strikes me as trolling.

I dismissed that one as it is so fractured it didn't make sense on that board. Was it in response to some other post? Trivial to say the least.

Re : "...writing in his home dialect...."
If this is true, I'm thinking his home is some isolated community somewhere in the backwoods and not Georgia generally. I've lived here, all over north Georgia, for 40 years and I never hear anyone talk that way unless they're out-of-staters wanting to make fun of country folk or someone wanting to converse in some over-the-top, unseemly Twain style, or something.

validating his "style" with which I wasn't impressed anyway. If he was actually fishing for arguments on the elements of "Southern English" he came to the wrong place as I think members here are too savvy to get suckered into that kind of OT stuff.
