Question for Bill Tindall

Hank Knight

Bill,

In your recipe for home made walnut stain you include "linseed oil." Do you mean raw linseed oil or boiled linseed oil?

"The components are burnt umber Japan Color or a tube of artist pigment burnt umber, linseed oil and either mineral spirits or General Finishes "Pre-stain Conditioner" "Natural".

Thanks.

Hank

Bill Tindall, E.Tn.

It needs to cure ("dry"). So, "boiled" is used, which in fact means catalyzed with manganese or cobalt so it crosslinks to a cured film top coats will stick to.
