WC Weekend Accomplishments....

Dennis E Peacock

4 Apr 2016

Good Morning Everyone,

The weekend was good but steadily busy. The LOML Jr has been on bed rest due to elevated blood pressure with her pregnancy. We've been concerned about here and helping her and her husband out with food, house cleaning, and etc. Saturday I helped the Son-in-law replace some sub-floor in their laundry room, rip out some sheetrock, and replace the show faucet and shower head. Sunday was church, workout day, and a movie last night with Son #2 and the LOML. So far, I've lost 28 pounds and 6" in our new getting fit and losing weight plan. We've decided to be in this 'get fit' deal for at least a year and we are only 3 months into it. I have 55.5 pounds left to lose.....so we'll see how it goes day by day. :)

That's it for me, so what did YOU do this past weekend?

Best of weeks to you all.

Still putzing with the dining room table (and I'm starting to get sick of it). :(

On the brighter side, I finally got out and started cleaning some of the latent mildew from the soffits and fascias and gutters although I still have no clue as to why they seem so attractive to that grunge.

Saturday I raked and mowed the back yard. Sunday the wife and I went to a community rummage sale, bought a handcrafted and mouth blown glass vase from Poland, and a couple antique staplers, one for a desk, and the other is a small hand held. I did manage to get some work done on the new dust hood for the JET JJ-6OS jointer, but not much. So today I'm going after it again.

There's a story here

The curious need to know how you keep the rain out. .. or, do you?

Need some theory here, as well as an idea of the provenance of that remarkable looking canoe.

Actually the rain did very well at getting in and hurried the shoot.

The canoe is an 18' Prescott Canoe, #1000, built by Prescott Boat Co., Brewer, ME some time between 1941 & 52 and that is all the information anyone has on this canoe or the company.

It's being restored in my basement and was the easiest canoe of the fleet to photograph on the stand.

The kayak is my neighbor's.

This weekend I returned to the Lingerie Chest to flush the drawers fronts and seal all with white, dewaxed shellac.

The drawers are now complete (coplanar) save for the drawer handles and waxing .. which will be done this coming weekend. And then it will be time to start the top section.

In the end I did not use sandpaper to level the drawer fronts, but simply marked off the high spots and planed/scraped them.

It is difficult to see the bow fronts in this photo.

Regards from Perth

Derek
