SOUTHWESTERN CABINET-ON-STAND

A little-known inlay material adds the regional touch. A little-known inlay material adds the regional touch.

Here is a cabinet I built a little over a year ago. It is made of red oak and is inlaid with a material called inlace. I was unsure as to how well the inlace would react to the wood movement, but after a year of sitting in a unheated garage shop thru temperature extremes from 20 degrees to over 100 degrees there have been no problems. Aside from the odor incurred with working the inlace, I find it an intersting material that is easy to work and it opens a lot of design possibilites.
