Aligning Jointer Tables

by Jim Rahbe, Bedford Tx

I use two large drafting triangles that I bought at a drafting supply house. I just place one on the out feed table and the other on the in feed table and butt them together back to back. Obviously, if the tables are co-planner then there will be no gaps between them. Check at several places across the cutter head. Using this method, you do not need to adjust the out feed to the same height as the in feed. This only proves that the 18 inches on either side of the cutter head are co-planner, but my guess is that if these 18 inches are ok, then the rest are either going to be ok or your going to need more than a little adjusting.
