A Safe Jig for Routing Cockbeading and Small Strips

by Mike Bon

I had to round over some small strips for cockbeading to wrap some doors and drawers and remembered this tip that I read somewhere in a magazine. Because I was using the bottom of a multiprofile bit I wanted something to keep my big fat fingers safe.

The one I remembered was quite fancy and had dust collection, but I just made mine quick and dirty so I could get the cockbeading job done. This worked really well. The key is to have the dado fit the stock so that it slides nicely but is not too loose. Just a dado, hole, line it up and clamp it to the table.
