I like the birch a lot, and the band is effective.
I like the way you defined it with burn lines.

I don't like to put water on wood, as a general thing, so I'm planning an experiment to see if I can extract tea (bag) tannins in DNA. I'll post the results.

I just airbrushed the FeSO4 solution on some walnut and got a nice effect. It's still wet, so I'll post the "before and after" later 'today'.

I will caution in advance that not all maples are alike, and you should always try this on a scrap first, but here are a couple pix of a maple burl sphere I used FeSO4 on with no added tannins. I really like the effect. Lacquer over the top. About 3.5" diameter.
