Re: Wiping Oil Finish for Large Bowls?

Don Stephan
Last year some experiments led me to think Waterlox would be my new finish. As a final test, I applied several coats to a 6" cherry bowl, let it cure, then began using the bowl for my daily milk and corn flakes. After a week or two there seemed to be areas where the finish had become very thin. I posted a question to the manufacturer; the reply said the finish, even after curing, would be broken down by dish soap. I still have some Waterlox in a Stop Loss bag for cherry hat stands and similar that would not likely be cleaned often with soap and water, but I gave the rest of the can away.
