Hydraulic Presses

John K Jordan
Concerning hydraulic presses:

I looked at the Harbor Freight 20 ton press and decided against it. I have had one from Northern Tool for maybe 6 years now and I think it is better than the HF for several reasons even if it costs more. Odd thing, sometimes you get what you pay for. The is sturdier, has a pressure gauge, and the pump mechanism is a big advantage to models that use a bottle jack suspended by springs. A neighbor was unhappy with his. I can't even find the stroke length spec on the 20 ton press from HF.

Maybe I'm unreasonably biased, but my personal rule is to not buy things from Harbor Freight that have moving parts.
