I suspect you already know this but just in case, padauk is notorious for not holding it's color. The beautiful orange when cut can quickly change. The color change may be delayed by certain finishes to exclued oxygen and UV light and by keeping the wood out of the light. Using a dye may help. This article may be of interest:

I quit using padauk after disappointing experiences. Perhaps the color is not a concern.
