Lancet flips on origin

TomD
While skepticism about "alternative sources" is more than reasonable, the Lancet is to be commended for distancing itself from earlier support in it's core medical journal of bad science and conspiracy theories on the Origin of the COVID 19 virus.

On origin, the Lancet notes that after 19 months of searching for a natural origin, none has been found and that previous statements in their journal suppressed alternative searches and theories, and branded proponents as conspiracy theorists. They say an open mind to all theories is the way to proceed.

Origin is more than a scientific or political issue, it can be critical to identifying the path of evolution a virus will take and what public health measures might be used. So it is more than of idle interest. Admitting that the natural origin theory has no evidence to support it does not point a finger in any particular direction by itself.
