Why would I "cheat" my primary customers out of the best lumber in a pack to accommodate a minor customer?

Some sellers let buyers pick from a pack and charge a premium for the privilege. Then they stick their large volume customers with what is left hoping they won't notice. Works for some but I never subscribed to this business model. We charged everyone the same price and they all got the same quality.
