Your observation helped me, Charlie. I have a LN tapered dovetail saw which is 15 tpi (?ppi). It is a little too coarse for the model work I have been doing. I looked at the Pax/Crown/Flinn options available in the US and then settled on the Veritas 20 tpi gents saw with rip filing. While the price of $60 is higher, I like the appearance of the saw and the thinness of the saw plate. I hope to use it both to rip and crosscut to size the thin wood I have been using. I'm running out of pegs and nails on which to hang my western and Japanese saw armory.
