It feels a lot like files - I just wasted a bunch of maple with it and it leaves tiny little chips at the edge, but that's it. Nothing more than a thousandth or so and one would be begging to sharpen by then.

But that's straight in work, and not in the hands of the general public.

Unless I find something wrong, you'll need a set of these to go with the ones that I sent in 52100, gratis. I didn't figure out the limitation of the 52100 at lower temper until after I sent yours. You can use those for abuse work and the 26c3 for everything else. It's just dandy so far tempered back some (at 380F). It should be low 60s hardness at that and its behavior is consistent with that.

I took pictures of the different edges but won't bore everyone with them.

It's not cheap steel compared to other plain carbon steels, but a look at bar stock for CPM M4 or XHP makes it seem very affordable!
