thanks for the write-up on your process, I may do a little more tool making in the future. I have made a striking knife from a flat file and a 1/8 chisel from a saw file. They both hardened and tempered without drama. I am happy with the edge holding and easy sharpening. I did minimal forging and mostly grinding. Also have made a few sloyd and spoon knives from O1. No forging for these and all grinding. No problems quenching in peanut oil and tempering in the kitchen oven (straw color). I have been very happy with these knives and probably have made a couple hundred spoons with them.


I (and probably many others) find your posts very interesting and hope you keep it up even if they aren't strictly on topic.
