Subject:
Straightening warped boxwood

Jack Dover
Long story short: there’s a set of chisels with boxwood handles. They were in storage and boxwood handles have warped. Some of them a just little bit, some pretty considerably. Quick googling brought tons photos of vintage chisels with boxwood handles and also warped. I assume this is a known problem, so before I proceed with experiments - does anybody have any advice on how to straighten them to some degree?

My plan B is to re-handle them, but given a number of projects that run parallel in this confined space, it might be in a few years time. Which is going to be a shame since I wanted these to be my “working” set.

TIA
