Fifty years ago writers were saying that colonial woodworkers let the timber season for (believe it or not) fifteen years before it was ready to use. Now we have writers who seem to think that it cannot be worked once it is dry.

Joiners who came to America did not sit around and do nothing while waiting for timber to dry. And joiners who had some nice timber that was fully dry did not throw it away or use it for firewood. We can work green oak, partly dried oak, air dried oak and kiln dried oak, whatever the case may be.
