Phil and Jake were both blacksmiths in Galena, AK, about 300 miles up the Yukon from Fairbanks. Forging of the holdfasts was started by Phil, who then passed on the skills and business to Jake. I can't find any modern references to them or to Galena Village Blacksmiths, so I don't know if one could still obtain a pair of the holdfasts. I also don't know the history of the bent arrow, so I don't know if they both used it or only Jake. Research of the OldTools Archives might be enlightening, because Phil used to post stories of the Alaska frontier there.
