The plane will make an uncertain start, taking between a 2 thou and a half-thou (5 tenths) shaving, depending on exactly how the user enters thencut. At the far end, same thing—depends on how the user is biasing the hand-pressure. In the middle, it will almost certainly not stay in the cut, because you're trying to take a 5-tenths shaving, and almost anything will interrupt the cut—depends on how the grain lays and whether the board is flat tomwithin 5-tenths, etc.

The user could then project the blade more, trying to fix what’s wrong, and then get a heavy cut on the ends and—maybe—a thinner cut in the middle, if he holds his mouth right. Or else the iron will dig in and then tear out, depending on the lay of the land.
