I agree that the new Stanleys are not a good plane. I did not even consider the new Stanleys, WoodRiver and the like. The old Stanley needed the hock blade and chip breaker to be a really bullet proof plane. My question was directed to those who have used a brass LN ($350) compared to a steel LV. ($230). The brass LN is available but the steel LN is not.
